Description/Job Summary

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a Stakeholder Engagement Specialist for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fuel Cells Technology Office supporting the Program Director and FCTO Communications. The position supports the program in achieving the objectives of the Office by helping to communicate the office’s mission, activities, and goals externally and internally, internationally and domestically. Using a variety of tactics and strategies, this person will help convey the science behind the office’s research and elevate the awareness of the office’s activities to stakeholders, the general public, and Energy Department leadership.


This position’s responsibilities include:

  • Working closely the FCTO Program Director and the Communications to relay information about the Office including research and development successes and accomplishments
  • Support the Program Director and Program Office in the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) working group. Includes attending domestic and international calls and in-person meetings; drafting materials and assemble briefing books for international travel; and assist in planning for twice-annual Steering Committee and side meetings, including logistics for workshop and outreach events.
  • Create briefing materials and talking points for Program Director and other EERE and DOE Senior Leadership on foreign travel.
  • Collaborating with Technical Managers, Program Managers, and National Laboratories to identify FCTO Program achievements that can be conveyed through various communication channels
  • Support the preparation of success stories/blogs, stakeholder emails, and social media promoting the benefits of bioenergy and energy efficiency to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Providing quality assurance on various communication products such as blogs, fact sheets, and website content that educates stakeholders regarding bioenergy basics and advances in renewable energy
  • Supporting communications and outreach for various events that feature FCTO speakers and topics

Required Skills

Advanced PowerPoint skills, SharePoint, Excel, and excellent written communications.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of or experience in transportation or renewable energy communications is preferred

Required Experience

Minimum experience of eight (8) years of relevant and directly related experience.

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with Transportation, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs a plus

Experience in supporting the federal government a plus

Required Education

A minimum of a B.S. or B.A. in a discipline that provides the functional skills to perform the functions and responsibilities of this position
