Description/Job Summary

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a Stakeholder Engagement Specialist (Task Leader/Project Manager) for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office supporting BTO Communications. The position supports the program in achieving the objectives of the Office by helping to communicate the office’s mission, activities, and goals externally and internally. Using a variety of tactics and strategies, this person will help convey the science behind the office’s research and elevate the awareness of the office’s activities to stakeholders, the general public, and Energy Department leadership.

Responsibilities/Duties

This position’s responsibilities include:

  • Working closely the BTO Technology Managers to relay information about the Office including research and development successes and accomplishments
  • Collaborating with Technical Managers, Program Managers, and National Laboratories to identify BTO Program achievements that can be conveyed through various communication channels
  • Preparing success stories/blogs, stakeholder emails, and social media promoting the benefits of residential energy efficiency and building technologies to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Providing quality assurance on various communication products such as blogs, fact sheets, and website content that educates stakeholders regarding bioenergy basics and advances in renewable energy
  • Preparing and executing communication plans that highlight BTO research and development
  • Supporting communications and outreach for various events that feature BTO speakers and topics
  • Maintaining a tracking document of all communication products.
  • Ensures the correct application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. Utilizes a management structure that standardizes the project-related governance processes and facilitates the sharing of resources, methodologies, tools, and techniques. Manage projects across the project life cycle from initiation to closure. Maintains all project plans, project-related calendars, projects task plans, and coordinates all associated Project Management Office activities.

Required Skills

SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and excellent written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

PMP certification is desirable.

Knowledge of or experience in residential or commercial buildings and/or renewable energy communications is preferred

Required Experience

Minimum experience of five (5) years of relevant and directly related experience.

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs a plus.

Experience in supporting the federal government a plus.

Required Education

A minimum of a B.S. or B.A. in a discipline that provides the functional skills to perform the functions and responsibilities of this position.
