The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Drafter / CAD Operator IV. The Drafter/CAD Operator IV will provide support for the areas of various CAD responsibilities and will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to:
Prepare a set or group of drawings for an entire or a portion of a project with independent responsibility for completion. Work from sketches, marked up prints and calculations into complete and accurate working drawings.
Perform site investigations to verify and note details of existing conditions and requirements to ensure all features are reflected on completed drawings. Layouts require a high degree of precision and are used to check tolerances, clearances and dimensions. Site investigations shall include but are not limited to systems and components such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and ductwork; piping for water, wastewater, fire protection, and compressed air systems; fire alarm systems; and structural support members. Must be familiar with and have the ability to identify the associated electrical system components such as panel boards, circuit breakers, conduit types, and receptacle types, and shall be familiar with and have the ability to identify the associated information technology/ telecommunications structured cable system components such as unshielded twisted pair cable, punch down blocks, fiber optic cable, patch panels, Ethernet switches, racks, etc.
Store, catalog, maintain and update as-built drawings and new designs on computer storage media.
Research original drawings and transcribe information and codes into AutoCAD drawings.
Prepare preliminary sketches and single line diagrams.
Prepare drawings for major projects utilizing computer design software.
Utilize automated databases, technical manuals, specifications and other courses of action to perform research and analysis work related to Maintenance Center.
Prepare drawings for visual presentation programs using computer programs; mount drawings and set up appropriate presentation tools.
Additional Draftsman duties as assigned.
Onsite support needs to be available during normal working hours between the hours of 06:00 to 18:00, Monday thru Friday, may be required to work overtime to meet program goals and objectives.
Preparing and revising detail and design drawings for such projects as the construction and installation of electrical or electronic equipment.
Drawing base and elevation views, sections, and details of construction projects, or preparing block maps, indicating water and sewage line locations.
Develop and maintain in house CAD standards, procedures, and templates for drawings for use upon Customer approval.
Provides Computer Aided Design (CAD) support to the Safety and Environmental Engineering staff to include maintaining current hazardous material storage locations and hazardous/universal waste management locations on existing facility drawings monthly.
Maintains existing records of building floor finishes and landscaping to facilitate execution of recurring annual contracts for custodial and ground maintenance services performed by other contractors. For custodial, examples of data required include: square yards of carpet, square feet of vinyl tile, square feet of ceramic tile, number and type of fixtures in restrooms, square feet of interior and exterior glass and square feet of computer access flooring for each building. These shall be updated when a space is renovated or when there is an addition of a new building.
For grounds maintenance services, the configuration control records shall include square yards of pavement, acres of grass, square feet of planted beds, number of planted trees, linear feet of edging, and linear feet of sidewalk. These shall be updated as required for any changes that occur in grounds.
A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of study or related field or a minimum four (4) years of experience working as a Drafter/CAD Operator IV.
