Description/Job Summary

The Building People is seeking a full-time Project Engineer with at least 7 years of experience to provide construction management and engineering support for several small to mid-size projects in the mid-west and northeast regions. Position will be located in Beltsville, MD with anticipated travel to project locations as needed. Candidate must have an engineering degree from a school with at least one ABET-accredited program.
The successful candidate will be comfortable performing the following tasks:
  • Interact with engineering staff, contract specialists, contract architects and engineers, and program scientists for both design and construction activities
  • Coordinate between Project Manager and Architecture-Engineering firm to develop programming and bridging documents
  • Perform engineering calculations and cost estimates as needed
  • Participate in design charettes and review meetings as a representative of the Project Manager
  • Review design submissions (design analysis, specifications, and drawings), cost estimates, engineering calculations, and code analysis
  • Provide bidding support by reviewing documents and answering questions from bidders/contractors
  • Review submittals and shop drawings, participate in construction progress meetings, monitor contract schedules, perform onsite inspections, evaluate contract change proposals, and oversee commissioning activities
  • Other related tasks as needed

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD
  • Basic understanding of Trane Trace, eQuest, Carrier HAP, or similar modeling program

Required Education

A degree in engineering from a school with at least one ABET-accredited program, plus a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the field of engineering project management.
