Job Title: Environmental Technician III

The Building People, LLC, has a full-time position open for an Environmental Technician III. The Environmental Technician III will perform the below.
Conducts tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental and engineering personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in the air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of agriculture, chemistry, meteorology, and engineering principles and applied technologies. Manages the Command Authorized Use List (AUL) - ensuring that as chemical products are approved by Safety and Environmental Engineering for addition to the Command AUL that the AUL is updated and accurate. The Command AUL is managed in a Microsoft Access database. For all South Carolina locations, the employee shall manage the AUL in the Air Force ESOH-MIS online database in addition to the Microsoft Access database.
Maintains the Command Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) library - ensuring that the Command Master MSDS library is accurate and updated as chemicals are added to the AUL
Maintaining work center MSDS books - ensure that as chemical products are approved by Safety and Environmental Engineering for addition to the Command AUL that the appropriate MSDS Building Book is updated and accurate for all SSC Atlantic buildings including shipyard properties.
Maintains the building or code hazmat point of contact (POC) list - monitor code, building or project hazmat POC’s for any changes in POC assignment.
Manage annual inventory update. The contractor shall conduct and coordinate with the local HAZMAT POCs the annual hazardous material inventory update. When inventory update identifies chemicals not on AUL,
Manage all record-keeping associated with hazardous waste operations. Ensure the previous three years of weekly inspections, Waste Identification Documents (WID), and Waste Transfer Documents (WTD) are maintained and easily accessible.
Prepare and process all WID requests (CDRL A006) with Joint Base (JB) Environmental for waste generated at SSC Atlantic in Charleston.
Maintain a log of all WID requests by generating facility, date of request, date of JB Environmental WID approval, and assigned WID number/description.
Prepare and apply all waste labeling for containers generated at SSC Atlantic.
Two (2) years of experience managing the Command AUL, maintaining the Safety data sheets (SDS) to ensure the Command Master SDS library is accurate and updated; and managing annual hazardous material inventory update. One (1) year of experience with the Air Force ESOH-MIS hazardous material database and Microsoft Access program.
Has experience conducting tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental and engineering personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in the air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of agriculture, chemistry, meteorology, and engineering principles and applied technologies. May specialize in one phase or type of environmental pollution or protection and be identified according to specialty.
Ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance and work in a secure environment.
Federal Government experience a plus.
A minimum of a High school diploma or GED.

Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, preferred but not required. Due to the nature of our business, most positions require U.S. citizenship. Federal Government experience a plus.
