Description/Job Summary

The Building People is seeking a Facility Condition Assessor with detailed knowledge and experience in either mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, or roofing systems to conduct Facility Condition Assessment projects throughout the United States.

Qualified candidates will have the ability to:

  • Perform assessments of client facilities utilizing professional expertise and judgment to determine physical condition and conformance with building codes and relevant government and industry standards
  • Use a tablet-based computer system to identify and document building equipment and components and provide justification for determination of the physical condition
  • Understand a project work plan and execute based on a client’s requirements
  • Work under the direct supervision and in accordance with instructions and standard practices
  • Assess multiple buildings within large complexes on a daily basis identifying major components and sub-components as well as supporting systems

Required Education

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field (may substitute technical college/trade school plus experience).

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems or building electrical systems
  • Minimum 3 years of experience conducting facility condition assessments
  • Knowledge of facility condition assessment web-based software applications such as BUILDER™ SMS
  • Understanding of UNIFORMAT II asset data cataloging structure
  • Ability to travel 50% or more and work flexible hours
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including experience with technical writing
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Be able to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE or EIT) or Registered Architect
  • CEM or CEA
  • Experience using SharePoint
