The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Systems Administrator to deliver IT operational and project management related services in support of the building monitoring and control systems (BMC) to collaborate and coordinate integration projects, day-to-day technical support of devices and consoles, IT infrastructure, and general application and server support.
BMC systems include but are not limited to building technologies such as: advanced metering systems (AMS), building automation systems (BAS), lighting control systems, physical access control systems (PACS), renewable energy systems, video surveillance systems, digital signage systems, and kiosk installations.
Background: In this role, the individual will provide program support at the local level for the implementation of BMC devices, IT infrastructure, and information management applications. The individual will work closely with the Federal client IT and business line personnel to ensure the needs of the regions and the needs of the national program are properly coordinated. The candidate will be embedded with the client in downtown Washington DC.
The qualified candidate will provide expertise and support of the objectives and initiatives of the Building and Energy Systems program in conjunction with the overall mission and goals the clients Facilities Management Program, to include the Smart Buildings and Program. The position will report through the CIO and will play a critical role in the day-to-day activities of both the implementation and production level support of building monitoring and control systems.
The Contractor shall perform a variety of IT liaison responsibilities between equipment specialists, design and construction project managers, service center property managers, the CIO’s office, and Facilities Management and the IT Program teams. Candidates will be responsible for oversight, management, and analysis of information technology aspects of building systems and devices for one or more geographical regions. In this capacity, the qualified candidate will operate as the key program contact for new and building improvement construction projects, and is responsible for developing, adapting and implementing IT procedures and program guidance related to client’s properties.
Sample of Tasks:
BE or BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred, plus a minimum of 5 years IT operation with strong understanding of networks, systems administration structures, theories, principles, and practices and experience with Microsoft Windows technologies (without a college degree, a minimum of 8 years’ experience required).
Location and Travel: Travel is required. The normal office location is Kansas City, MO. However local travel within 50 miles of the office is expected to support the systems installed at different locations and travel may be required locations with the CONUS as needed to support.
