Description/Job Summary

The Building People, LLC, has multiple positions open for a Senior Facility Operations Engineer.  The position assumes a leadership role in working with facility managers onsite, and collaborating with sub-contractors on and offsite, plus maintaining day to day operations and planning for (and responding to) disruptions in the physical plant at a 24/7 critical mission facility.  This facility is considered “critical” for continuous operations for the agency in question, and this position assumes demonstrated experience, high comfort level, and extraordinary competency in managing critical infrastructure.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced technical leader and resource who will be responsible for all internal activities and product development. This person will display a high degree of creativity and is expected to show a high degree of latitude and flexibility to help manage a technically complex environment.

Specific Areas of Responsibility Will Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Provide project management, design guidance and technical support for operations and maintenance, design, construction, and related safety projects.
  • On site audits of physical plant conditions to recommend preventive maintenance practices, plant upgrades, building upgrades to support plant operations and long-term equipment replacement strategies.
  • Perform facility condition risk assessments and gap analysis and document the same in reports for management. This may involve building system forensics, remediation and property disposal.
  • Assist in data gathering and report building for environmental, sustainability, and energy management compliance initiatives. 
  • Assist in space design and phasing of office relocation projects to minimize occupant disruption.
  • Display superior interpersonal and skills and facility management acumen in in assisting with overall management of the facility.
  • Assist in the creating of business case analyses, generation of Statements of Work (SOW), construction estimates, budgets, capital investment review, and earned value analysis.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience in mission critical facility support, plan review, specification review, design development and related calculations, scheduling and ROM cost estimating.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to write grammatically correct technical documents.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and/or daily guidance.
  • Superior working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Project Management software.
  • Ability to pass a federal contracting security screening process
Desired Qualifications:
  • Engineering and/or Architectural Design degree related to infrastructure and physical plant systems. Equivalent experience and relevant certifications may be considered with quantifiable significant experience.
  • State license in engineering or architecture.
  • Facility with AutoCAD drawing manipulation ad interpretation
