Description/Job Summary

The Building People, LLC, has multiple positions open for a Senior Facility Operations Engineer.  The position assumes a leadership role in working with facility managers onsite, and collaborating with sub-contractors offsite, in maintaining day to day operations and planning for (and responding to) disruptions in the physical plant.  This facility is considered “critical” for operations for the agency in question, and this position assumes demonstrated experience, high comfort level, and extraordinary competency in managing critical infrastructure.  The ideal candidate will be an experience technical leader and resource who will be responsible for all internal activities and product development. This person will display a high degree of creativity and is expected to show a high degree of latitude and flexibility to help manage a technically complex environment.

Specific Areas of Responsibility Will Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Provide project management and technical support for operations and maintenance, construction, and occupant and physical safety projects.
  • Perform facility condition risk assessments and gap analysis and document the same in reports for management. This may involve building system forensics and remediation and property disposal.
  • Assist in data gathering and report building for environmental, sustainability, and energy management compliance initiatives. 
  • Will assist in space design and phasing of office relocation projects to minimize occupant disruption.
  • Display superior interpersonal and skills and facility management acumen in in assisting with overall management of the facility.
  • Assist in the creating of business case analyses, generation of Statements of Work (SOW), construction estimates, budgets, capital investment review, and earned value analysis.
  • Must be experienced with providing daily oversight and coordination for improvement projects.

Required Education

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or architecture.

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in mission critical facility support, plan review, specification review, and developing cost estimates.
  • Must have well developed communication skills, including the ability to write grammatically correct technical documents.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and/or daily guidance.
  • Must have superior working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Project Management software.
  • A profession license in engineering or architecture in the local jurisdiction.
  • An energy efficiency or sustainability certification (including LEED AP, CEM, or CMVP)
